Access 2 Play, Inc. exists because no child should be denied the discipline, joy, and opportunity of athletic competition simply because of their zip code or their family’s bank account.

“To cultivate a generation of confident, competitive, and community-minded young athletes by dismantling the financial, geographic, and institutional barriers that separate talent from opportunity — ensuring that every child in Maryland, regardless of circumstance, can step onto the field, the court, or the track and discover what they’re capable of.”
HOW WE STARTED
Born From Experience
Access 2 Play didn’t start in a boardroom. It started on the sidelines — watching talented kids get cut from teams they couldn’t afford to join, watching families choose between groceries and registration fees, watching communities lose their best young athletes not to a lack of ability but to a lack of resources.
We incorporated as a Maryland 501(c)(3) with one non-negotiable belief: if the system won’t bend to include these kids, we’ll build a new one. One that starts with the athlete, not the fee schedule.
Today, Access 2 Play is actively building a statewide infrastructure of grants, sponsorships, clinics, and education programs designed to reach the kids that existing institutions have overlooked.

Four Principles That Guide Everything
Urgency Over Incrementalism
Every season a child misses is a season they never get back. We don’t study the problem for years before acting — we move resources to athletes now, while building long-term infrastructure in parallel.
Community-Led, Not Imposed
Our coaches, mentors, and program leaders come from the same communities as the athletes we serve. We don’t parachute in with prescriptions — we listen, partner, and build alongside the people who know their neighborhoods best.
Full-Stack Support
Registration fees are just the beginning. We cover equipment, travel, uniforms, coaching, and education — because removing one barrier while leaving five others in place doesn’t change the outcome for the athlete.
Radical Transparency
Every grant we distribute, every dollar we raise, every outcome we produce is tracked and reported publicly. Our donors and community partners deserve to see exactly where their investment goes and what it produces.
